Triangle A is holding its first ever Triangle A obstacle competition


This is a 2 day competition



Classes:

Green- all horses 4 and under

Beginner

Basic

Advanced

Youngins - riders 10 years and under


Lead line- lead line or handler/helper - any age. For people who need assistance riding, small children who can't ride alone, special needs riders and adults without confidence who like somebody present to help if needed in the arena.
This is not an age restricted class.
If rider seems to advanced they will get a reride in another class more fitting there riding level.


In hand - first year for competing in any obstacle competition any age horses and any horse 3 years and younger


In hand advanced - horses all ages

 

 

 

Rules



Dress code:


Pants- all types , no shorts. Or Long skirt

Boots with heel

No hat required but hats or helmet is preferred

Shirt- sleeved - short or long sleeve if it has print on it it has to be family friendly, no tank tops


Tack:



English or western

No martingale, tie down or other training device


No gag bits


No mechanical hackamores


Shank bits must have flat curb chain or leather curb strap




Conduct:

Riders: no drugs or alcohol, be respectful, no approving the judge during competition, no arguing with staff or judge, all judges rules are final

Horses: stallion need a blue ribbon, kickers need a red ribbon,


All classes have 10 obstacle, riders have 8 minutes for the class,

Time has no effect on scoring

* will be given during the ride for horsemanship . * are only used to break ties and do not count for scoring


Coaching and calling obstacles from the sideline is allowed


If a rider rides on obstacle out of order the rider will not be scored for the remaining obstacles


DQs: prohibited tack, lameness of horse, excessive spurring, whipping ,yanking on bit and dangerous riding will result in a DQ. Standing in saddle or swinging on trailer when trailer loading are examples of dangerous riding.


A walkthrough will be given 30 min before start. At walk through the judge will explain each obstacle and what he/she wants to see and how the obstacle is to be executed.


If a rider falls off or looses control of the horse they have the remaining of the 8 minutes to get control and finish the course. If a horse and /or rider leave the arena the ride is ended and only the points accumulated that far count.


Obstacals: no jumps over 18 inches . Example obstacles but not limited to Bridges, backing,gates, roping, dragging, jumps,pivets, roll backs, spoons, mailbox, water box,trailer loading, curtain poles,side pass, move objects, wind a clock, send around, ground tie, transitions



These will be standard obstacles and not extremely obstacle to showcase riding skills.


Mounting blocks will be provided.


Scoring: each obstacle or maneuver will get a maximum of 10 points

Prizes: ribbons up to 6th place and high point buckle.other prizes may be added.
